"When one pays dues the song becomes a part of all you have lived: all the hurts, the rejections, the bad pianos, the bad club owners, the not getting paid for a gig...So many things to pull from."INSTRUMENT Voice

Hard-swinging vocalist Kenny Colman has been sharing his gift with audiences for close to a half-century. He got his start with the help of songstress Sarah Vaughan, who was so impressed by his impromptu performance at New York's Page 3 that she arranged for his first professional jazz gig in 1961 at Las Vegas' Flamingo Hotel. Colman's performances there established his status as a rising star, and he soon became "a fixture on the international club circuit" (Kenny Colman).
Never one to be deterred by hard times, Kenny persevered through the challenges faced by the industry during Beatle-mania, and pulled through his own health crisis in 1985. Today, his tenacity has been rewarded: The crooner style is once again at the forefront of popular music.
"Kenny, it's you and me and Tony Bennett. We're a fraternity. We're the last of the saloon singers." -Frank Sinatra
